The Cellist of Sarajevo – winner of the 2009 Evergreen Award™

Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway (Knoft Canada) is the winning title of the 2009 Evergreen™ award. Author Steven Galloway will be presented with the award at the 2010 Ontario Library Association (OLA) Super Conference in Toronto on February 26th. The shortlist consisted of ten books selected by a committee of librarians from across Ontario. Votes were cast at participating public libraries across Ontario during Ontario Public Library week in October.
This years Evergreen™ Award handed out the distinction of Honour Book to Coventry by Helen Humphreys (Harper Collins Canada).
The Evergreen™ Award is one of OLA's newest additions to the Forest of Reading®. It was introduced at Super Conference 2005 for adults of any age. It gives adult library patrons the opportunity to vote for a work of Canadian fiction or non-fiction that they have liked the most.
