Ontario’s Libraries – Celebrating Excellence in Design and Space

February 3, 2010 –The Ontario Library Association announced the Library Building Award recipients today. The OLA Library Building Awards were created to encourage excellence in the architectural design and planning of libraries in Ontario.
“2010 was a banner year for the awards. Each submission is judged upon its own merit rather than in competition with the others. The jury had a challenging time due to so many notable submissions. This year 10 of the 25 submissions were selected to receive an award,” commented Tanis Fink, chair, OLA Library Building Award Jury.
Award recipients are from the school, academic, and public library sector and are as follows:

The awards will be presented at the OLA Super Conference, February 24 – 27, 2010 in Toronto. All submissions will be displayed for registered delegates to peruse.
The 2010 jury members reflect expertise from the architectural and library sectors and are:
Tanis Fink, jury chair, and chief librarian and director, Seneca Libraries
Maureen Barry, chief librarian, Burlington Public Library
Christopher Hume, Urban Issues, Architecture columnist, The Toronto Star
Gerrie Doyle, president, the Ontario Association of Architects
Gordon Grice, member, the Ontario Association of Architects
